coexistence of multiple xe 2011 compiler versions

As someone mentioned a while ago, installing an xe 2011 (12.0) update blocks normal access to earlier versions of xe 2011. This is recognized as a defect,with aworkaround described here
An alternate way is to pick a different install path (don't use /opt/intel/ for the update).
