I am considering buying a new PC system with Dual Core processor. Does the Dual Core processor support Intel EM64T to develop 64-bit applications with Intel Fortran?

The Core™ 2 Duo processors support EM64T (now renamed "Intel 64" - go figure.) This would be the ones that will be officially launched tomorrow, code named Conroe. The earlier "Core™ Duo" (without the 2) processors, used in laptops and the current Apple Macs, do not support EM64T.

Yes, you can use the Intel Fortran compiler to develop 64-bit applications for these new processors. The 64-bit compiler, still referred to as "Intel EM64T", is a separate install option and requires that you have the Microsoft Platform SDK or Visual Studio 2005 installed.

Thank you. Steve.

I am having a system with 3.80 GHz Xeon processor, XP Professional, and Visual Studio 2005. Could I install IVF 9.1 with the 64-bit option? Dont I need XP Professional x64 installed?

You can certainly install IVF 9.1 and the EM64T compiler. You can build EM64T applications on a 32-bit Windows system but can't run them there. If you want to develop and run then you will need one of the x64 variants of Windows running on the box.
