What's the difference between buying the Intel fortran cluster version versus buying a professional version and then downloading the free IMPI library?

For Fortran specifically, buying the Cluster Edition enables use of -coarray distributed. It also includes Intel Trace Analyzer and Collector and Intel Cluster Checker (Linux).
As for "the free IMPI library", that gets you the redistributable run-time only, not what you need to build MPI applications.
