This is an internal compiler error. Please use Intel Premier Support to report the problem and attach a gzipped tar file of all the files needed to reproduce the problem. We only need to compile file.28.f90, not run the program.

Thanks for your comment, Steve.
By the way, I got the following error message this morning when I compiled the code again, without making any change in the program.
ifort: error #10106: Fatal error in /usr/local/intel/composerxe/2013.sp1.1.106/composer_xe_2013_sp1.1.106/bin/intel64/fortcom, terminated by segmentation violation
compilation aborted for file.28.f90 (code 1)

Please report it to Intel Premier Support. But first I suggest installing Update 3 - you're at Update 1. We may have fixed it already.

Ok - report it through Intel Premier Support so that we can fix it. By analyzing the failure we may also be able to suggest a workaround.

As it is verified by a colleague of mine, the error disappears when the flag "-debug variable_locations" is excluded. He thinks that the compiler itself grows too big in this case (2 GB) and crashes. With the flag "-debug inline_debug_info,semantic_stepping", instead of using "-debug extended", the program is compiled with no error. Anyway, I will report it to the Intel Premier Support. :)
