The license is for a one year term, not by compiler version. If you have kept your license active by paying renewal fees, you don't need to pay. If not, it may not make sense to renew, if that means paying multiple renewals.

The renewal license is called an "SSR" , service and support renewal. And the key, as Tim points out, is that the renewal is for another year FROM THE DATE OF THE EXPIRATION OF YOUR OLD LICENSE and NOT the date of purchase. So if your license has expired for a year or longer, the SSR will not be worthwhile as you'd need 2 or more of them. Find your license file and cat the contents, it's ASCII. Look for the date stamp in there, that is your expiration. Or login to https://registrationcenter.intel.com and you will find the expiry of your license.
