Steve,
The "readme.txt" (with fixes?) is again missing with this update.
Also, why didn'tan update as "patch"make it as announced with the previous update: w_fc_pu_8.1.023.?
I noticed that there isno "pu" in the filename. Just out of curiosity, does this meanthat new download customers get pointed to version 8.1.023? Would that mean that new customers have to first download150 MB followed by an installation followed by a next download of 150MB, an uninstall and an install to go to version 8.1.025?
Walter

You should be able to find previous discussions indicating that the preferred method for new on-line installations is to get the license, but ignore the link to the old evaluation compiler. Instead, open up a premier.intel.com account and get a current compiler right away. Evidently, a more self-explanatory scheme would be preferable.
I don't have inside information in this case on why a planned patch might have turned into a full replacement compiler. It's possible there wasn't time to work out problems with a patch.

It would be nice if there was some kind of "readme" that would tell a user what was fixed before download. (or after download -- since the release notes for this one have no "fix" notices in it).
Fortunately, I have a fast connection but it still takes time to download a 150MB file.

There is supposed to be a README, and we supposedly fixed the problem that prevented it from being posted the last time. I'll check it out on Monday.
The difference between _pu_ and _pc_ isn't really important. _pu_ indicates that this kit also replaced what you get pointed to when you buy the product for download. You don't need both - just the _pc_ kit will do.
I'll also find out what the story is with patches....

Steve,
I realize that you mostly hear about problems, certainly from me. However, with the exception of the readme file, this patch/update installed perfectly for me. You are making progress in both the product and "user education" depts.
Regards,
Keith

The README is there now - I suspect it just hadn't gotten there yet when you looked for it.
Thanks for the kind words.

Steve,
you must be something different from what I see. When I log into premier.intel.com, I do NOT see the readme file. Could you double-check on this?
Thanks,
Haje

Yes, I can see it, and even downloaded it. I have attached it to this message,
Try this - log in to Premier Support and then click on this link. What happens? Are there others who can't see the README?

Steve,
The link works just fine. The problem is that the readme did not show up under "What's New", where I have been looking for it. When I click on "File Download" and choose IVF for Windows, the readme does show up in the list. I just expected it to show up in the "What's New" list as it used to.
Cheers,
Haje

I have never looked at What's New before - do the READMEs typically show up there? I know that we're trying to reduce confusing clutter in e-mails and trhe What's New section of the site.

Steve,
"whats new" is the page that shows up when I login to premier. the readmes used to show up in this section, but since 8.1.023 I have not seen them there.

I think we tried to simplify the What's New area as it had too many files for each release.
