Anyone knows when and what version of it will be supported on RHEL5.3, SLES11 and SLES10.3 ? Thanks a lot!
Generally, when new versions of the major linux distros come out we will support them in subsequent compiler updates. Sometimes this is within a month of the distro release, sometimes it takes around 3 months or more. It depends on how the distro release synchs up with our compiler release schedule.
The installer has the hardest time keeping up with the oddball assortments of Linux distros and versions. One may sometimes see the installer tell you that the installer cannot find a compatible system and ask "Do you want to continue the installation?". Most times, if you ignore the warning and install you will find that the compiler will work just fine. It's simply that there are too many linux distros and versions for the installer to recognise and keep up to date with all of them.
Although I'm not 100% sure, I am fairly certain that the latest 10.1 compiler will support the distros/versions you have above. RH5.3 for sure, since I have one of those in my lab, and SLES10.3 as well. I'm not sure on SLES11.
Are you seeing any particular issues with any of these? And if so, do you have the latest 10.1 compiler (10.1.018)? What are you seeing that is prompting this question?
In general, we recommend to customers to not jump on the latest Linux versions immediately after they come out. It takes us time to get those into our labs, test, find and fix issues, and get those changes into a scheduled compiler update. Wait 6 months is a good rule of thumb AND if you want to follow the leading edge, make sure to keep your compiler up to date with the latest updates on registrationcenter.intel.com
