Intel GPA 4.3.160275
nVidia GTX 560ti
Intel Xeon W3550 (3.06GHz)
12GB RAM
I captured a frame in a DX11 application and am trying to load it in Frame Analyzer. The load seems to go fine, I start to see the timeline and job tree and can select a job, but then it starts slowing down the entire machine a lot, and eventually pops up a messagebox saying "BEGIN Event was not created." . Click ok on that and another one pops up saying "An unexpected error occurred." and Frame Analyzer crashes.
A colleague of mine has GPA 4.0.something, and can capture the same application and open it in Frame Analyzer fine.
Capturing a frame from DX SDK samples, even DX11 ones, doesn't cause this problem. Capturing the DX9 build of this same application also doesn't cause the problem. We use Compute Shader, however if that was the problem the DX SDK samples that use Compute Shader would also cause the same problem, and they don't.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling 4.3.160275 but I still get the same results.
This is the XML report that it saves:

Thank you for all the information, this will help us recreate your issue.
Would it be possible to send me the frame you captured when you did not have ID3D11DeviceContext::CopyResource and Map/Unmap methods commented out? If I can replicate the crash we will probably be able to fix this issue quicker.
The capture file is rather large, so if you could please private message me a Dropbox (or any other file-sharing service) link with the frame file, we can get this problem fixed.

Hi Jason,
I have not received your email yet.
A good way to private message me is to click on the "Send Author A Message" on this thread. Then just write your message and I will be notified.
If that doesn't work I'll message you with my email.
Thanks,
Seth

Hi there. We are having the exact same problem as Jason K. The reported source line and file is the same. Also a DX11 title, but running on Win 10 (though that appears to be unrelated). It would be wonderful if we could get this fixed, the intel performance analyzer has been the only one we've found so far that works with our game at all and we need something dependable to benchmark and trouble shoot this project. Are you in contact with Jason K still at all or did you get his frame capture? I don't think I will be allowed to give you any of our capture files (they all crash on load in the Frame Analyzer). There is nothing sensitive in the error log though, here is ours...

Hi Skybox Labs,
Sorry to hear Frame Analyzer is crashing for you. A couple things regarding your issue.
First, we will have full support for windows 10 in our 2015R3 release next week. So if you are running into any windows related issues, the next release will fix that.
Second, this bug still exists in GPA. Jason switched engine versions and the bug appears to not be blocking for him anymore. I have submitted a bug report in our backlog and have prioritized it high. Though without a frame file, we can not fix the issue as quickly, but we will try our best. :)
I'll private message you to see if we can work out a solution.
Best,
Seth
