Hi,
I downloaded ipp under the noncommercial license and I just can't install it in my gentoo box. When trying to install as a regular user, I just go back to the install menu after unpacking (1 for ipp, x to quit). If i try to install as root, after unpacking I get the error
"Cannot get shared lock from RPM Database"
I did some research on the problem (googled it) and tried a few possible solutions (running rpm --rebuilddb, looking for a process holding the lock), but none of them worked. How should I proceed?
Thanks very much

Dear Customer,

Howver, some of our Linux users have successfully installed the IPP on other platforms such as Debian*.

You may try to extract files from rpm packages using the "rpm2cpio" tool.
If you still cannot solve the installation problem, please submit an issue via Intel Premier Support at https://premier.intel.com where our IPP support staff will provide assistance.
Thanks,
