We are using IPP4.0. We seem to have a problem porting the signal analysis application to Vista running on Dual Core. Is there any solution?

Hi Andrey,

What kind of problem? Was performance issue or run time error?

The old version of Intel IPP probably wont recognize the latest CPU processors, but it may choose the closer optimized code from old version. However, it wont get the best performance for the latest Core 2 Duo processors..

So will you consider upgrade your version to the latest version Intel IPP 5.2 that provides newest optimized code for Intel Core 2 Duo as well as the full support for Windows* Vista? Please check the Intel IPP 5.2 information at http://www.intel.com/software/products/ipp

Additionally, you may also check this FAQ where addresses the compatibility issue when upgrading Intel IPP from version 4.* to 5.*.

Hope it helps.

Hi Ying,

It's been long time since we communicated last time;-)

The problem this timeis incorrect computation under Vista/Dual Core.

The ideal solution would be a processor specific DLL, that would run under 4.0 IPP structure.

Doessuch DLLexist in nature?

Thank you!

Hi Andrey,

Sorry for catching this late.

We would recommend if you could upgrade to the latest version of Intel IPP 5.2 that supports Vista and Dual Core.

As you may understand, the IPP 40 was launched few years back when the optimized code at that time was only up to Pentium 4 (SSE2 instruction). Such optimized code (w7 based) may work on Dual Core, but we may not cover full validation for older version of libraries on latest Intel CPU systems.

I also noticed your recent 2 posts for inconsistent results between 2 different CPUs and our support engineer is working on these issues and you can expect to hear from us shortly.

Thanks,
Ying
