Issue with Linux watchdog timer where system did not restart.
Hello,
I have a motherboard NUC7i7DNB version, J83500-206 BIOS version DNKBLi7v.86A.0070.2020.0924.1014.
I am using it under a Linux system.
I want to use the integrated watchdog:
iTCO_wdt: Intel TCO WatchDog Timer Driver v1.11
iTCO_wdt: Found a Intel PCH TCO device (Version = 4, TCOBASE = 0x0400)
iTCO_wdt: initialized. heartbeat = 30 sec (nowayout = 0)
Unfortunately despite all my tests this one never increments and the value of timeleft remains constant.
(cat / sys / class / watchdog / watchdog0 / timeleft)
Which has the effect of never causing a restart of the card.
While browsing your forums (https://community.intel.com/t5/Processors/Using-linux-iTCO-wdt-driver-on-i3-7100/td-p/1126815), I saw that users had completely corresponding phenomena on the NUC7i3BNK, NUC7i3BNH, NUC7i5BNK, NUC7i5BNH,
NUC7i7BNH range. It would appear that the problem has been resolved by updating BIOS (version 0083) (https://downloadmirror.intel.com/29783/eng/BN_0083_ReleaseNotes.pdf?_ga=2.34077857.1832265243.160977...)
Can you proceed to the BIOS update for the NUC7i7DNB range, so that the Intel PCH TCO Watchdog can be used.
Thanking you,
Sincerely,
Paul Goulpié

Hello DeividA_Intel,
Thanks for your feedback.
I just tested the latest version of the bios (DNKBLi7v.86A.0073.2021.0414.1709), and I confirm that the problem is solved. The card now restarts correctly after expiration of the timeout.
Thank you very much for your efficiency.
Sincerely,
Paul Goulpie
