Intel Optane not working after a fresh OS install

I bought an HP omen laptop (Model: 15-EK0013DX) that comes with 32GB of Intel optane memory pre-installed, however at some point I had to do a fresh OS installation and I just noticed that my intel optane memory is no longer working, what can i do?

Hi @Declarox 

1. You probably didn't disabled Optane Memory before reinstalling Windows. Now the Optane remains enabled with the old installation. In addition you should assure that the SATA mode in BIOS is set to "Intel RST Premium with Intel Optane System" rather than AHCI.

2. If you now how, you may disable the old enablement in BIOS.

3. If you don't have such possibility in BIOS, you should wipe the contents from the Optane Memory, executing commands from Administrative Command Prompt:

4.From the command prompt, type diskpart and press Enter. The diskpart prompt will open.

5. From the diskpart prompt, type list disk and press Enter. A list of disks will appear in a text format. You will return to the diskpart prompt.

6. From the diskpart prompt you will need to select a disk disk number (for instance, if the Optane Memory 32GB + drive is Disk 1, you would type select disk 1) and press EnterDiskpart Erase/Clean will permanently erase/destroy all data on the selected drive. Please be certain that you are erasing the correct disk. 

7. From the diskpart prompt, type clean and press Enter. The Optane Memory is now erased and the old enablement is not active any more.

8. Close out of the Command Prompt.

9. You should verify that the SATA mode in Bios setting is set to "Intel RST premium ….", rather than AHCI. In order to change the SATA mode without corrupting Windows, you should enter BIOS after setting Windows boot mode to SAFE. After rebooting to Windows after changing the SATA mode, you may disable the SAFE mode and boot in Normal mode.

10. You should prepare minimum 5MB of unallocated space in the end of the drive being accelerated. 11. Download Intel RST Driver and unzip it on your drive. Right click on iaStorAC.inf and select install from drop down menu. Reboot your computer.

12. Download from Microsoft Store and install the Intel Optane Memory and Management.

13. Now enable Optane Acceleration. Follow Intel Optane Memory Installation Guide, Section 3.
