I'm looking at buying an Optane 900P drive and currently using an Asus X99 Deluxe motherboard and 5930K CPU. The Board looks compatible since it uses PCIe 3.0 Gen 3. But I'm not sure about the CPU though, some material I've seen says yes since it's an E series chip and others say no.
On a side note Kudo's to the Intel marketing team for including the Star Citizen ship code with this drive.

Hello VOM_Thomas,
Thanks for posting in our communities.
The Intel® Optane™ SSD 900P Series doesn't have CPU restrictions specifically, but there are other requirements you have to be aware of. You can find the full requirements to use it as a bootable or secondary data drive here:
- https://www.intel.sg/content/www/xa/en/support/articles/000025741/memory-and-storage/enthusiast-ssds.html System Requirements for an Intel® Optane™ SSD 900P Series Drive
Checking your motherboard https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/X99DELUXE/specifications/ specifications, it seems to meet the general requirements for Intel® Optane™ SSD 900P such as NVMe compatibility (through BIOS update), UEFI Bios and available PCIe ports.
However, the ASUS X99-Deluxe* http://compatibleproducts.intel.com/ProductDetails?activeModule=Memory%20and%20Storage# has not been tested with this drive, we recommend to verify storage compatibility with the board manufacturer.
