I remember reading somewhere that the one can use Intel CAS (Cache Acceleration Software) free, if paired with an Intel SSD.
Is this option valid for Optane?

Hello Roman.Shein,
Thanks for posting in our communities.
You may use the entry version of https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000018812/memory-and-storage/ssd-software.html Intel® Cache Acceleration Software (Intel CAS) if you have an Intel SSD. However, this doesn't include the Intel® Optane™ Memory.
It is also important to notice that contrary to the enterprise version Intel CAS, the free version doesn't have a dedicated support.
Best regards,
Eugenio F.

That is the shame that Optane is not supported. Intel position Optane exactly as a cache device, yet it is still not supported by CAS!

Hello Roman.Shein,
Thanks for your reply.
Intel Optane Memory has its own software for system acceleration on supported platforms. You can lean more about it here:
- https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000024018/memory-and-storage/intel-optane-memory.html Frequently Asked Questions for Intel® Optane™ Memory
Please notice that the memory module will be recognized as a regular PCIe NVMe drive and you may use it as standalone SSD. However, we don't support this configuration.
Best regards,
Eugenio F.
