Hello Cro3,
Greetings from Intel!
As mentioned earlier, you will need to reach out to the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or the board manufacturer for further assistance as they will be the appropriate point of contact to help resolve the matter.
Also the Intel® Optane™ Memory Series and the associated spare parts and accessories have been discontinued. This is to inform you that the support for the said products have been switched to self-service support.
Since no additional support is available from our end, we will proceed with closing this case.
We appreciate your understanding!

Hi @cro3
It is good idea to consult with HP about SSD compatibility. However you should know that Optane Memory is an NVMe SSD, so it should be not a problem to replace it with an NVMe SSD. The following steps should be taken to replace the Optane Memory with and NVMe SSD:
1. I suggest to start this procedure after consulting with HP.
2. Run the Optane Memory and Storage Application and disable the Optane acceleration. Reboot your computer.
3. Prepare full backup of your drive.
4. For Optane Acceleration the SATA Emulation settings in BIOS is set to RAID and you should set it to AHCI. In order to change the SATA Emulation mode without corrupting Windows, you should enter BIOS after setting Windows boot mode to SAFE.
5. In BIOS Storage Options, change the SATA Emulation to AHCI. Save the setting and exit from BIOS (disregard any warnings).
6. After rebooting to Windows after changing the SATA Emulation mode, you may disable the SAFE mode and boot in Normal mode.
7. You may now clone your HDD to the new NVMe SSD. Remember, only one System drive may be installed at the same time. So, when installing the new SSD, disconnect (or erase the HDD).
