Clone OS drive - Does Intel Data Migration work with 800p NVME SSD?

Hello, I just purchased the 58gb 800p NVME Optane module that I am using just as a drive. I have it mounted as E: in my system. I want to clone my current OS and its data from the existing SSD to the new 800p NVME drive. The FAQ of the Intel Data Migration application says that it does not support NVME? I dont why understand why the application wouldnt just recognize the 800p NVME as another drive. Why does it matter if its SATA or NVME? Can someone please confirm? If NVME is indeed not supported, can I please get a recommendation for software that I can use to migrate my OS to the Optane?

Hi tboooe,

Thank you for contacting our support community. We understand that you want to clone your OS to the Intel® Optane™ SSD 800P Series.

We would like to let you know that Intel® Data Migration Software does not support NVMe* cloning process, It only supports SATA to SATA cloning process. However, there are some 3rd party tools that may be able to complete the task such as http://clonezilla.org/ Clonezilla* or paid versions of other 3rd party tools such as https://www.acronis.com/en-us/ Acronis* or https://www.easeus.com/backup-software/tb-home.html%3Fgclid%3DCjwKCAiA4vbSBRBNEiwAMorER-eHoPHpGWXmZxLGB1_zfamFfzNmv9qRHDukqiU36qaA7Zn7fxehOBoCvWwQAvD_BwE Easeus* Todo Backup.

You may want to check with the software vendor before purchasing in order to verify if they will be able to complete the task.

Thank you so much for the recommendation. Which version of Backupper did you use? I see 4 different versions on their site:

Free, Professional, Server, Technician.
