Laptop motherboard died - need to recover data from Optane H20

I have an Intel Optane H20 M.2 SSD that came from a Dell P98F001.   The motherboard failed on the Dell.   No backup.    Is it possible to place the Optane H20 in another computer to recover the data.

The recovery computer is an i5 Nuc running Windows 11 on a SATA SSD.    There is an m.2 slot available to install the Optane H20.

After installing the Optane H20 into the Nuc, Windows recognizes there is a drive there, but  does not provide access.

I've installed the Intel Optaine Memory and Storage app.   This app recognizes the Optane H20.

How can I get access to the Optane H20 without deleting the content on it?

Thank you.

Stephen

Hello stephencross,

Greetings from Intel!

Ideally, if a disk is healthy and is removed from one computer and connected to other, should be usable and even back up can be taken. Challenge is, the disk, when it was on the original system(whose motherboard went bad), if it was encrypted by bitlocker, then you wont be able to. This could be the reason why you are not able to access it. In normal computers, with windows OS, there is a feature called drive encryption, which usually is enabled by default. In such cases, back up is not possible in a normal way and you might have to seek assistance from Third party profession data recovery experts (depending on how valuable the data is to you).
