Hi - I'm getting a fast, memory-laden desktop for my quartus/Modelsim runs. It will run 64b linux of some sort.
We prefer Ubuntu here, but I've also used Centos. According to Altera, Quartus is supported on Centos 5 only, and ModelsimAE is supported on neither. But the older forum threads seems to speak differently... Can anyone comment on the safety of using Quartus/Modelsim AE with Ubuntu and/or Centos? I mean, will it work? Will Altera refuse support when there are issues due to unsupported O/S? Thanks! /jLink Copied

CentOS and RedHat are the same thing, so both Quartus and ModelSim will work on CentOS 5 very well. Ubuntu is another thing. You can get it to work if you are motivated, but you won't get official support for it. But this forum has been very good at helping others with it.
