FPGA Programming and Hardware essentials" with the associated FPGA board

Has anyone bought the book "FPGA Programming and Hardware essentials" with the associated FPGA board and actually got the board to work? I can't get the first exercise in the book to work, the software says there's an error in the download process. I contacted Elektor service, who finally said the author would work with me directly, it's been 18 days, I haven't heard anything, I'm more than a little frustrated. Can anyone actually help? It doesn't seem so!!!!!!! I'm really frustrated.

The Programmer message suggests that the FPGA type on the board is different from that the design was compiled for, e.g. 10M16 instead of 10M08. Should be easy to check.
