How to program the FPGA/IC EPM7192SQC160-10 through Quartus II ?

Hi Intel Customer Support Service,

I would like to program the IC PN: EPM7192SQC160-10 through the JTAG programming with Parallel Ports.
I have installed the Quartus software from the Link.

Once Installed I can see the Printer Port (LPT1) detects as a Parallel Port, but I'm stuck with the flow to proceed further in order to program the board.

Could you please provide a detailed instructions in order to program the FPGA, with the Quartus also the required drivers for it?

Once I have installed the Quartus, I have an exclamation mark on the Printer Port (from Device Manager), I believe this is due to the driver. Please share your instructions in order to program the IC successfully.

Hope for the response from You.

Thanks.

Do you have a ByteBlaster or ByteBlasterII parallel port to JTAG programmer adapter (or an equivalent clone)?

Your system appears to support USB from the device manager picture, why not just use a UsbBlasterII (or a cheap clone)?

What version of Quartus are you running?

What version of Windows are you running?

The manual for the ByteBlasterII indicates that WindowsXP is the latest supported version of Windows.

Ref:  https://cdrdv2-public.intel.com/654344/ug_bbii.pdf

There are driver install instructions in the above document.

That is the last OS I remember using a ByteBlaster on.

QuartusII 13.0sp1 available for download for free from the Intel download site supports the EPM7nnnS parts using the UsbBlaster.

Ref:  https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/software-kit/711791/intel-quartus-ii-web-edition-design-software-version-13-0sp1-for-windows.html

Personally I would recommend using a UsbBlasterII or clone (you can get a clone for US$10 or less) and using QuartusII 13.0sp1.

For reference, the version of QuartusII you link to (13.1) does not support MAX device development; 13.0sp1 is the last version that does.

13.0sp1 runs fine on either Windows 7 64b and Windows 10 64b.

Forget about using the ByteBlaster thru the LPT port. It is a dead end.

Hi Intel Customer Support Service,

We're using Windows10 x64.  I think I have installed the older version of Quartus. Let me try to reinstall back with the Quartus link you've provided.

I have seen the https://cdrdv2-public.intel.com/654344/ug_bbii.pdf, it seems this guideline is suit for those who're using Windows OS 2000/XP.

Maybe once I have installed the Quartus, and using the USB Blaster II, could you please share us what are the drivers that we should install and through Quartus how do we can perform the programming to the board ?

Thanks for your prompt response.
