Help,

I was using Quartus II web edition with the included ModelSim happily all last month, and then the new year rolled around, and it just stopped working. It's now complaining about license files, but it's supposed to be unlicensed. I think somebody at Altera made a booboo, but I'm at a loss as to how to get help other than the forum.

For the record, I tried a fresh install even. I'm on Ubuntu 13.10 (amd64) with Quartus II 13.1.1. I'm targetting a Max V CPLD, or maybe a Cyclone III if it won't fit.

Any help is appreciated. Verilog is hard to learn without a simulator :(

It seems to be working for me. However I have the full version of Quartus. So it may be grabbing something from that license file to open.

To request support go to https://www.altera.com/myaltera/mal-index.jsp create an account, and submit a service request.

Make sure you are not accidentally pulling up an older version of Modelsim..

It may be your paths are just pointing to a old version of Modelsim_ASE that use to require a license file.

Huh,

It seems that it's not really about the date. A second computer seems to have survived just fine as well. I'm re-installing for a third time. Anybody know of any other places besides the install directory (~/altera by default) that i should clean up to make a completely clean install?
