Hi all!
I've just installed Quartus II 10.1 in Ubuntu 10.1. No problem there. I've also installed ModelSim_AE in Linux, and no problem either. The problem comes when I want to open ModelSim. I go to the path where I've installed ModelSim and execute Vsim> ./vsim
. And it gives the next error: Unable to find the license file. It appears that your license file environment variable (e.g., LM_LICENSE_FILE) is not set correctly.
Unable to checkout a license. Vsim is closing.
** Fatal: Invalid license environment. Application closing.
I've installed a License, following the steps detailed in http://philpem.me.uk/elec/fpga/quartus-ubuntu/ . Here you can see a screenshot of my license setup: http://img686.imageshack.us/img686/2677/screenshotxgzb.th.png (http://img686.imageshack.us/i/screenshotxgzb.png/) I've also tried to open ModelSim from Quartus, configuring the path for Modelsim in /opt/Altera/10.1/modelsim_ae/bin
(that's where I've installed ModelSim), but when I try to run an RTL Simulation it gives the next error: http://img571.imageshack.us/img571/5000/screenshot1vtk.th.png (http://img571.imageshack.us/i/screenshot1vtk.png/) Uploaded with imageshack.us (http://imageshack.us) Any suggestion? Thank you!

ModelSim (even Altera Edition) doesn't use the Quartus II Tools > License Setup license, you must use the LM_LICENSE_FILE environment variable set to the location of the license as indicated in the error
