Modelsim Altera license question

Hi, 

 we have Quartus 11.0 here and a floating license for the subscription edition as well as some IP cores. When entering "lmutil lmstat -a" I get this output:  ---------------------------------------------------------------  License server status: 1717@flexlm  License file(s) on flexlm: /opt/flexlm/lic/mge_lic.dat:/opt/flexlm/lic/altera_lic.dat:/opt/flexlm/lic/msc_lic.dat:   flexlm: license server UP (MASTER) v11.6  Vendor daemon status (on flexlm):   mgcld: UP v11.6  alterad: UP v9.5  MSC: UP v9.2  "  ...  "Users of 6AF8_00BD: (Total of 1 license issued; Total of 0 licenses in use)  Users of 6AF7_00BD: (Total of 1 license issued; Total of 0 licenses in use)  Users of maxplus2: (Total of 1 license issued; Total of 0 licenses in use)  Users of maxplus2verilog: (Total of 1 license issued; Total of 0 licenses in use)  Users of maxplus2vhdl: (Total of 1 license issued; Total of 0 licenses in use)  Users of quartus: (Total of 1 license issued; Total of 0 licenses in use)  Users of 6AF7_00A4: (Total of 1 license issued; Total of 0 licenses in use)  Users of 6AF7_00AD: (Total of 1 license issued; Total of 0 licenses in use)"  ---------------------------------------------------------------   and some more Altera IP core licenses. Quartus is running fine. But when I try to start the Modelsim-Altera vsim it tells me  "Unable to checkout a license. Make sure your license file environment variable (e.g., LM_LICENSE_FILE) is set correctly and then run 'lmutil lmdiag' to diagnose the problem. Unable to checkout a license. Vsim is closing. ** Fatal: Invalid license environment. Application closing."  Am I mistaken in my belief, that a Quartus Subscription License will also include a Modelsim Altera license or is there something broken in the license server setup?  Best regards, flintstone

Quartus does not come with a modelsim licence - this has to be bought separately for the altera edition. You can download and use the modelsim starter edition for free though.
