Hi,

I am using Quartus 18.0 on windows 10 operating system. When I try to program my device using the programming tool in Quartus, my PC crashes and restarts. Any help will be highly appreciated.

Regards,

You need to be very specific:

What version exactly on Windows 10?
What is the crash error? Application crash or OS blue screen? (Seems like the latter?)
What are the error codes produced?

That being said it most likely has to do with the USB driver used for the programmer is causing the crash.

You may want to try disabling/removing the existing Altera/Intel USB driver and force a reinstall.

Hi,

A follow up to the ongoing conversation. I encountered the same issue with a OS Blue Screen coming up with a note that the system is rebooting. The version of Quartus used on the Windows 10 system is 18.1.

I followed all the steps listed in one of the intel community threads (https://www.intel.com/content/altera-www/global/en_us/index/support/support-resources/knowledge-base/component/2019/why-does-an-intel-fpga-download-cable-or-an-intel-fpga-download-.html), yet the issue persists on my system.

Any pointers are much appreciated!

Best Regards

Hi!

I just got the issue sorted by using the drivers of Quartus 14.0 version. They are compatible with my version of Quartus 18.0.

Thanks anyways for the response.
