In my waveform I have a signal I want to use for clock so I right click on it and set its period to lets say 10.0 ns. That's fine. Now supposing I want to slow down the clock, I right click on the clock and change the period to something higher. However when I hit OK it seems to change the period to make the frequency much higher. Why does this occur? Even if I don't change the value and just hit ok it changes the clock.

The clock period setting works fine for me in QII version 7.2. It looks like the default is 10 ns if you don't change the value. If your original clock is not 10ns, then probably if you click ok it will overwrite the original clock.
