It's claimed to be faster than 15.0, and that seems to be the case. 

 It produces both .pof and .sof output files by default.

but one day somebody changes the fucntionality of text-editor so you can type "counter for 32 bit" or "pll for 5 clocks with ratio" and the software write down a code for ip instance rather than doing it manually.

The problem with updates are: It confirms we were and still are economic with truth (i.e. we lied before). Once a project starts with a version, you don't want to risk and update version while project is not finished. If you want to update an old project you get into a mess.

I mean why not to create script for describing design structure from text for you at the very start or even project updtaes. <- forget about schematic diagram, forget about qsys-diagram. let the CAD tool to build it for your from text ) I want more simply process thats converts one's own ideas from papers to CAD. <- as for me, this step is very hard for now.  when the last time do your visit the function "insert template" in quartus text-editor? <- there is no quick find function, and if you write Verilog why VHDL templates insertion allowed or vice versa.

I posted in another thread but no replies yet - when going Tools..License Setup Quartus 15.1 crashes with a core dump. Has anyone experienced this?

Thanks for sharing the info. Are we forced to download and install the full 15.1 release ? Or is there update file to upgrade directly from 15.0 (or other version) ?

It will be a full download. 

specific release numbers are separate releases. But these releases may get service packs (that bug fix specific releases).  the 15 referes to 2015, the .n number refers to release 0,1 etc.
