Hi,
I'm trying to use the SignalTap II Logic Analyzer (configuring it on MegaWizard Quartus Plugin) to use on a Cyclone IV. My quartus license is a little old (subscription 7.0 - Full Version). But when I reach the stage to select my device family, I can't find Cyclone IV at the list of Quartus II 7.0. I downloaded a newer version of Quartus II (10.0) and I'm using the web edition license. At this version I can find the Cyclone IV device. But the web edition license doesn't have support for SignalTap II Logic Analyzer. To use Signal Tap Analyzer, with web edition license, I have to enable the TalkBack feature (as Quartus II prompts when I try to create the signal tap). However, even with the TalkBack feature enabled, I can't use the Signal Tap Analyzer. Does anyone have any idea about that? Am I configuring TalkBack correctly (just checked the checkbox)? Also, I do have a development kit (terASIC - DE2 - 115), there is no way to use this development kit as an provisory license to use the signal tap (or any other kind of feature)? Thanks in advance. Quartus 9.1 was the earliest version that supported the Cyclone IV line of parts.
The web-edition signaltap should work just fine in Quartus 10.0 with talkback turned on. So long as you ran tb2_install.exe and checked the option, it should be enabled. I am running Q10.1 with talkback and have had little issues with signaltap for use with Cyclone IV. Try re-running tb2_install.exe again. If this does not work, I'm out of ideas. Good luck.
