Trouble installing QII-Web 9.1sp2 on Linux

Hello,

I'm a new user in regard to both Linux and the QII software so I'm sort of a double noob. I've been finding my way around the Linux CLI pretty well but the installation of QII - Web Edition has me stonewalled. I downloaded the installation .tar and extracted it to my downloads folder. Next I went into terminal and as root user tried to run the install script that's in the /quartus_free directory created from the .tar. But after selecting the default installation directory opt/altera9.1sp2 I get the following error:

calculating disk space requirements...

the requested installation requires 6297032 kbytes.

/home/pete/downloads/quartus_free/compare: command not found.

------------------------------------------------------------

you do not have enough disk space to install the requested items.

there are only 48641176 kbytes in /opt/altera9.1sp2/quartus.

As you can see the error makes no sense since it's saying ~48GB is not enough space to install ~6GB. I've tried looking at the relevant part of the install script, but my Linux experience is far too limited to understand exactly what's going on there and what could be causing this problem.

In case it matters I'm running Fedora 13 on a new iMac (separate bootable partition, not virtual machine) and again trying to install Quartus II - Web Edition version 9.1 sp2. If you ask why I'm installing an older version of QII it's because I'm using it at school and that's the version they have, so I need to be able to move my projects back and forth between school and home.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, but please bear in mind that I'm no Linux or Quartus guru.

Thanks,

Pete
