It happened while working in the train that a compilation was not successful : The current license does not support this operation. The same compilation was successful 15 minutes later, online again. This means the web license is a float license, not useable without internet access.

9.0 Build 132 02/25/2009 SJ Full Version

..

or could that be due to the network not being available at all, there won't be an IP, there won't be a MAC.

Hi,

your are using a full version of Quartus which requires a valid license. When you are starting Quartus did you get a Warning regarding "Evaluation Mode" ?

Kind regards

No. There is a splash screen : upgrade your web version to the Altera subscription program. It may be though, that I have this software from an Eval-Kit I purchased a year ago. Or that it is a remain of a full version, I once owned.

Hi,

only to be sure. Is your installed Quartus version a web edition downloaded from Altera or is it a full version where the license has expired ?

Kind regards
