No they aren't. Just a few kB each. 

 

I don't want to start a general discussion about the pros and cons of translaters like X-HDL. I once tested it and found it producing reasonable code quality. But I'm not presently using it. You shouldn't translate a MegaWizard generated file like spipll.c. Instead, you should be able to regenerate it as VHDL file in the MegaWizard.

No, MegaWizard can generate VHDL on its own. I'd offer to learn some basics of Verilog, since it will always be useful.

The suggestion was to translate an existing MegaWizard generated Verilog file to a VHDL file using the Megawizard "copy" feature. It's possible, because the original file contains all MegaWizard settings.
