Why the Google Cloud C3 does not have QAT device?

I follow the instruction of installation, but I do not why the c3 does not support the qat hardware?

The documentation (Intel Ark) for the Intel(R) Xeon(R) Platinum 8481C CPU that you have in your Google Cloud C3 has not been approved for publication yet so I really don't have confirmation if this processor supports QAT.


However, based on this article: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000095464/technologies/intel-quickassist-technology-intel-qat.html all 4th Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processors support the Intel® QAT Acceleration Technology. Also refer to 4th Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processors On-Demand Model Information website for further information: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000093616/processors/intel-xeon-processors.html

For products formerly Sapphire Rapids you may use lspci -nn | egrep -e '8086:4940|8086:4942'


Please keep in mind that I am not well familiarized with new Google C3 infrastructure, my comments before are made based on regular processors, it could be possible that Google C3 infrastructure have been highly customized and that some features are not available.
