Hello,
I am encountering an issue with the Intel FPGA toolchain while installing Intel SoC EDS with ARM DS-5 , When I run the "embedded_command_shell.sh " script from the Intel FPGA Pro Edition 20.1 directory, I receive the following error message:
It seems that the script is looking for the ds5_link/soceds_config file, but it is not present in my installation directory.
- What might be causing this issue?
- How can I resolve it to ensure that the SoC EDS functions correctly?
- Is there a specific DS-5 installation required for this version of the Intel FPGA Pro Edition?
- Are there any alternative solutions or workarounds if DS-5 is no longer supported or available?
Thank you for your assistance!

Hi
Please find my answers below:
1.What might be causing this issue?
This warning does not cause any functionality issue when debugging.
You may still continue to use it to debug.
2.How can I resolve it to ensure that the SoC EDS functions correctly?
Could you check if you are following the steps for SoC EDS according to the link below:
https://www.rocketboards.org/foswiki/Documentation/SoCEDS#Starting_Embedded_Command_Sh_AN1
3.Is there a specific DS-5 installation required for this version of the Intel FPGA Pro Edition?
Please note that the SoCED have been discontinued.
The DS-5 was last tested with using Intel FPGA Pro 20.1 and SoCED 20.1.
4.Are there any alternative solutions or workarounds if DS-5 is no longer supported or available?
Alternative for the DS-5 is the RiscFree IDE.

Hi @JingyangTeh ,
I have been following the quide for installing SoC EDS and Arm DS-5. But while executing the command embedded_command_shell.sh i'm getting the following error WARNING: DS-5 install not detected. SoC EDS may not function correctly without a DS-5 install.
I am using Intel FPGA Pro 20.1 and SoCED 20.1.
Can I use directly DS-5 without Intel SOCEDs? If yes what will be the advantages of using SOCEDs. Do I face any problem.
Actually I want to use HPS to manage descriptors of MSGDMA IP so what I have to configure in HPS for this and do i need DS-5 and SOCEDs for this. Actually I am first time using HPS.

Hi
Sorry for the late reply.
A little history on the SOCED. In previous release of the SOCED the eclipse installation was added together with the SOCED installation.
On 20.1 the eclipse installation was separated from he SOCED installation. That is why in 20.1 there are separate steps for ArmDS installation.
Yeah you could use the ArmDS without installing the SOCED. You are able to see the Intel Device under the device selection.
