Unison is working great on a new Laptop (Intel Core Ultra 7 155h) (Unison was already pre-installed) using MS-Win 11 Pro; Unison in version "Version u:20.23.6971.0/c:20.23.9257.0".
All MS-Win11 updates installed, no updates available for Bluetooth- and Wifi-drivers.
Connections to iPhone 8 (iOS 16.7.9) and iPad (5th gen, iPadOS 16.7.9) are working and stable.
All updates on iPhone and iPad are installed.
Laptop is connected with Wifi, Bluetooth enabled.
Both, iPhone and iPad, are connected to the same Wifi, and both devices are paired via Bluetooth as well.
Can send and receive files (e.g. images) successfully.
Can browse the device's gallery successfully.
Will be informed about notifications properly.
With the connected iPad I wanted to use "Universelle Steuerung" ("Universal Control"?) as well as "Erweiterte Anzeige" ("Extended Display"?).
I get asked to install a "Paket mit erweiterten Funktionen" ("package with extended functions"?) and are forwarded to download and install "IntelUnisonEnhancedCapabilitiesPackage_3427.exe", in currently the latest version "20.21.3427".
When trying to install it, I get a small popup with "Das Setup ist aufgrund eines oder mehrerer Probleme fehlgeschlagen. Beheben Sie die Probleme, und führen Sie das Setup erneut aus." ("The setup failed due to one or multiple problems. Please solve the problems and start the setup again.").
No further message, no further information about the "one or multiple problems".
Cannot find anything related in the MS-Win event-viewer, don't see any additional messages posted to a console or local file.
Already tried to repair and reset Unison.
Already rebooted the Laptop, restarted iPhone and iPad, already re-connected the devices (disconnecting, deleting device information, re-establish connection).
Also tried to start "IntelUnisonEnhancedCapabilitiesPackage_3427.exe" with admin rights (right-click mouse).
When file-transfer works properly, when noticiations are transmitted, when the gallery can be browsed on both connected devices (iPhone and iPad) successfully - how to get "universal control (using mouse and keyboard from Laptop on the iPad), how to get "extended display" working?
How to get additional information about the "one or multiple problems"?

Can anyone comment, does anyone know more details about why and how the "Intel Unison Enhanced Capabilities
package" could fail?
I double-checked the "Intel_Unison_UserGuide.pdf" (v3.0 April 2024), but there is nothing mentioned.
How could it be analyzed further why the installation of the enhanced capabilities package is failing - and what to do to make it succeed?

No feedback, no reaction, yet...
Is there a way to escalate this issue to someone within Intel, to an field-application-engineer maybe?
Is there any way to get logs from the "Intel Unison Enhanced Capabilities package" installer?
Why is it failing? The displayed popup with "The setup failed due to one or multiple problems. Please solve the problems and start the setup again." is not helpful, obviously.

Hello RechtFrage,
Thank you for posting in Intel Communities.
To get a better understanding of the issue and be able to provide an effective recommendation, please provide the missing key information here:
1) I got to see the attached screenshots, however, I am requesting help translating the exact popup message you got for the failed installation.
2) Please make sure your system meets the Premium Features to be able to utilize the extended display function. To help check, please download the Intel® System Support Utility for Windows* software. When the download is complete, launch SSU.exe.
1. Scan: Check the box Everything.
2. Click Scan.
3. Review: When finished scanning, click Next.
4. Click Save (.txt).
I will wait for your reply.
Best regards,
JeanetteC.

Thank you for your feedback @JeanetteC_Intel
The error popup in German language says "Das Setup ist aufgrund eines oder mehrerer Probleme fehlgeschlagen. Beheben Sie die Probleme, und führen Sie das Setup erneut aus.".
As mentioned in the initial post of this issue, a translation could be "The setup failed due to one or multiple problems. Please solve the problems and start the setup again.".
(the second popup only shows the name of the application including version information and that it is a signed application?, "IDD_20.21.3423.0_signed_HID_20.21.3421.0_signed").
From the mentioned "Premium Features" I can clearly say that all requirements are meat.
Ok, downloaded "SSU.msi" in version "3.0.0.2 (Latest)".
Executed "SSU.msi", selected the checkbox "Everything" and clicked "Scan; after the scan and review, clicked on "Save".
(submitting the scan to "Customer Support site" did not work, the used URL "https://servicerequestmgmt.intel.com/webticketui/" seems incorrect.)
Find the scan attached called "Scan_Unison_not_running_in_background.txt" (while running the scan UNISON was not started).
Please let me know what you found in the scan - is there something missing to prevent the "Intel Unison Enhanced Capabilities package" to be installed properly?

What the summary of "Premium Feature requirements" are missing - it only mentions "iOS* 15.x and and above".
The iPad I use is this model (5th generation, Wifi, no cellular): https://support.apple.com/en-gb/111960
It has iPadOS version 16.7.10 installed.
The Apple spec says "Wi‑Fi (802.11a/b/g/n/ac); dual band (2.4GHz and 5GHz); HT80 with MIMO" and "Bluetooth 4.2 technology".
"Unison Premium Features", however, requires "Intel 2x2, Bluetooth 5.2, and later".
Is Bluetooth (required) v5.2 versus (on iPad-side available) v4.2 the breaking link?

Hello RechtFrage,
Thank you for sharing the details I requested. based on the log file you shared, your current hardware components actually met the Recommended System Requirements. However, your current OS version/build (21H2) is lower than the supported OS (It should be 22H2). Please run/ install Windows Update and make sure there are no pending updates.
Let me know how it goes.
Best regards,

Thank you very much for your feedback @JeanetteC_Intel .
According to my system settings I already have MS-Win-11-Pro "23H2" running (MS-Win reports it got installed on 2024, July, 20th), i.e. earlier than I had created this issue report...
The Intel-SSU scan tool reports version "Version-10.0.22631-Build-22631", not sure how this translates to "21H2"?
However, I have pending system updates (another cumulative update for 23H2).
Downloading the update and installing it will take a while, I already initiated the download.
I will update you in the course of the day.

Now the system update has finished.
I started Unison again.
Connect to iPhone and iPad (can browse, access messages, see gallery, etc.).
Needed to install the "enhanced capabilities package" ("20.21.3427 (Latest)"), but the installation fails with the same message "The setup failed due to one or multiple problems. Please solve the problems and start the setup again.".
So I ran the SSU scan tool again.
Find attached the latest scan.
The system version seems still the same "Version 10.0.22631 Build 22631" (but two additional installed updates from today (KB5041586, KB5041587), but this time with an updated build number.
Do you see anything important in the scan this time?
After the MS-Win11 system update I got a popup about the "Microsoft Smartphone-Link" application, which I haven't used, yet, which I haven't configured, yet.
The SSC-scan contains an error message "Installationsfehler: Die Installation des folgenden Updates ist mit Fehler 0x80073D02 fehlgeschlagen: 9NMPJ99VJBWV-Microsoft.YourPhone" (Installation failure: The installation of the following update failed with error 0x80073D02 : 9NMPJ99VJBWV-Microsoft.YourPhone).
What is Microsoft.YourPhone, is this related to Unison?

Hello RechtFrage,
Currently my colleague is away, so I will be handling this thread for now. The 9NMPJ99VJBWV-Microsoft.YourPhone is not connected to the Intel Unison. Intel Unison app code is 9PP9GZM2GN26, also the premium features are only applicable on laptops that has Evo/VPro platforms. Therefore, I would like to inquire if you have an Evo or VPro sticker on your laptop so we can confirm that your laptop is compatible with the premium features. I am looking forward hearing back from you

Thank you very much for your feedback @DhannielM_Intel
When I received my new Laptop I removed the stickers for esthetic reasons... I can't tell whether it has an "EVO" sticker on it, sorry.
Is there another way to detect whether it is an "EVO certified" model?
The tool "System Support Utility" doesn't seem to show EVO (cannot find it in the scan text file either).
However, the laptop has a MeteorLake "Intel Core Ultra 7 155h" with an NPU (Intel AI Boost) embedded (I can confirm OpenVINO can use the NPU successfully).
The laptop is a "HP ZBook Firefly 14 G11Mobile-Workstation-PC" with an "Intel Core Ultra 7 155h" and is running MS-Win-11-Pro.
According to the HP product page "https://www.hp.com/us-en/workstations/zbook-firefly.html" I can't see "EVO" being spelled out...
The contained SoC is not a vPro SKU as far as I can see.
HP advertises this model as an "Intel AI PC".
Do you know a tool to check whether the Laptop is "EVO compliant"?

Dear @JeanetteC_Intel ,
thank you for reaching out to me via email to ask me to create a ticket with HP.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to create a ticket from Germany/Europe, not even to chat with an Agent from Germany/Europe. When trying to do so selecting e.g. US-region then I was able to create a ticket asking whether my Laptop is "Intel EVO" certified or not.
However, the ticket got immediately closed as "don't reach out to HP-US when you are located in Germany/Europe". This is a pitty.
Without a more detailed error or other log-message about why "Intel Unison Enhanced Capabilities installation package" is failing a root cause analysis seems difficult.
I will be happy to try newer versions of Unison and "enhanced capabilities package" when available.

Hello Diver,
Sorry to hear that you weren't able to confirm whether your system device is Intel EVO-certified or not. I'll check with our team if there are other options for you to get the Enhanced Capabilities Package and utilize the
Premium Feature. I'll post an update once it's available.

Dear Alfred,
thank you very much for your trigger!
So now I just re-installed the latest version of UNISON "20.24.(9812)" as well as the EnhancedCapabilitiesPackage "20.24.3498" (IntelUnisonEnhancedCapabilitiesPackage_3498.exe) you mentioned.
Also installed the UNISON app on both the iPhone and the iPad.
The installation looks very different and is very detailed!
Control and Extended Display are working, thank you!!
The mouse calibration on the tablet is reported as "failed" on the tabled even though I can move the thumb between the "mouse" and the "cheese" successfully several times... Control and ExtendedDisplay, however, seem to work totally fine.
Thank you very much for your support, Alfred.
Best regards,
Rechtfrage
