Unison iPhone App Reports Connected to PC, but Can't Send / Receive Messages, View Photos

As of approximately two weeks ago I can no longer use the Unison app on my Windows 11 PC to send or receive text messages.  When I try to send a message from my PC, the attempt eventually times out; this is while the app on my PC reports that it's connected to my phone, and the Unison app on my iPhone reports that it's connected to my PC.  Likewise when I go to the Gallery in the Unison app on my PC, none of the photos from my iPhone are shown.  I've reinstalled the app on both platforms to no avail.  Please let me know what information I can supply to help with troubleshooting.

Hello Brendan_Brinn,

I need some additional information to help me identify the root cause of the issue:

  • Are you experiencing connectivity issues with other apps on either device?
  • Have there been any recent updates to your Windows 11 PC or your iPhone’s iOS?
  • Have you checked the app settings on both devices to ensure they are correctly configured?
  • Have you tried reconnecting Bluetooth or re-establishing the Wi-Fi Direct connection?
  • Are there any other devices connected to your PC or iPhone via Bluetooth/Wi-Fi Direct that might be causing interference?
  • Are there any error messages about account permissions or authorizations in the app?

Your responses will assist me in identifying the problem. Thank you for your cooperation.

Good Morning:

Here are my answers to your questions in order:

  • No
  • Not at the time when I noticed the problem
  • Please explain how this step would be done.  I performed the initial pairing of my PC and iPhone using the Unison apps and this seemed to complete successfully.
  • Yes; this didn't resolve the issue.
  • No
  • Please explain where I might find any error messages which wouldn't be displayed on my screen.  I haven't received any dialog boxes indicating account authorization or permission problems.

Thank You,

Brendan Brinn

Hello Brendan_Brinn,

Here are my recommendations to address the issue you're experiencing. Please follow the steps below and check the additional article attached. Let me know if this resolves the issue.

For iOS Phone:

Ensure Connectivity:

Go to Settings > General on your iOS device.

Double-check that both your PC and iOS Phone are connected to the Internet and Bluetooth.

Pairing and Application List:

Pair your iOS Phone with your PC. The application list will dynamically update based on the notifications received on the phone.

Notification Handling:

Select the Dismiss or Disable Popup option.

Note that there is no reply capability except for incoming message notifications.

Notification Settings in Intel® Unison™ PC App:

Switch ON Notifications and Pop-ups from the Intel® Unison™ PC App.

Then, select either Full content or Private (app name only). Notifications will be displayed accordingly.

Setup Notifications from Phone’s Apps:

You can choose which apps you want to receive notifications from the connected phone by switching ON/OFF individual apps.

The Intel® Unison™ PC App will show the notifications from the connected phone, displaying them on the PC while in the foreground or background mode

Customize Notification Behavior:

Customize the notification behavior from the notification settings in the Intel® Unison™ PC App.

You can select Delete, Turn Off, or Dismiss the notification in the Intel® Unison™ PC App.

Please review the attached article for more detailed instructions. Let me know if this helps.
