I have recently purchused an Xeon e3 1270v5 with a little hope to run this solution on a budget frame but I'm stuck with motherboard choice due to a lot of informations saying about e3 being very selectiable about chipset.
Hoped to attach it to mobo ecs-z170h4 as it had some insinuations about running v5 on z170 but on the other hand I'm not sure about that.
Would it work? And is z170 compatible as I found it could run some xeon processors but not possible to specify which due to lack of informations on the net, hence my question. Would that run and if not then what should be the choice (again opting for more expensive c232 and c236).
Situation is a bit odd because I already have and the processor and mentioned ECS mobo, and despite not running so far I'm not sure whether put more cost asking at some service to get it running or is it simply a bad match. Searching for somebody to say it for sure whether that's workable at all, and if not then what sort of support should I be finding for e3 1270v5. Thanks a lot.

Hi Derty,
Thank you for trusting Intel with your business. As with all good things, your product has reached the end of its interactive technical support life. However, you can find Intel® Xeon® Processor E3-1270 v5 (8M Cache, 3.60 GHz recommendations at Intel Community forums and additional information at the Discontinued Products website. Regarding the motherboard compatibility, we advise you to check with the motherboard manufacturer since they will be able to provide more information on the compatible processor with their own board. Additionally ,the Intel chipset C232 and C236 also already discontinued and retired, therefore there wont be any more information available. It is our pleasure to continue to serve you with the next generation of Intel innovation at Intel.com. Our humble apologies for any inconveniences caused.
Thank you for using Intel products and services.
Regards,
Sazzy
