User Interrupt on Xeon 6th Processors

Hi,

I wish to get confirmation that user interrupt (UINTR) is still supported on Granite Rapids cores and Sierra Forest cores.

I can't find relevant information in product introduction or SDM.

If you can direct me to the right specifications, that would be even better.

Thank you.

Hi Xiaocong,

As Per Intel® 64 and IA-32 Architectures Software Developer's Manual Volume 1: Basic Architecture , page 115, Yes, (UINTR) is supported on Xeon 6 E-core processors, based on Sierra Forest.

Granite Rapids is not mentioned as supporting this feature.

  1. User Interrupts (UINTR):
  2. 4th generation Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processor Family based on Sapphire Rapids microarchitecture, Intel® Xeon® 6 E-core processors based on Sierra Forest microarchitecture, Intel® Core™ Ultra processor supporting Lunar Lake performance hybrid architecture.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Than you Simon!

I see that Emerald Rapids has UINTR though not specifically stated in SDM. So I highly suspect Granite Rapids supports it too.

I hope to confirm this before purchasing the server , so could you escalate this?

Hi Xiaocong,

We have thoroughly reviewed the documentation, and based on this review, we would like to confirm that UINTR is not supported in Granite Rapids.

Additionally, please find the link below for your reference.

Hi pujeeth,

I think the document has a table about the introduction of the features, which is not current support.

So it should be supported.

Please verify the interpretation if you can.

Hi Xiacong,

Thank you for your reply.

As per the documentation (refer 1.3 INSTRUCTION SET EXTENSIONS AND FEATURE INTRODUCTION IN INTEL®

64 AND IA-32 PROCESSORS, Table 1-2, Page 17), the User Interrupts(UINTR) only supported in Sapphire Rapids, Sierra Forest, Grand Ridge, Arrow Lake H only.
