Hello,

Looking for help.

I found Xeon 8562Y+ has two different ordering code: PK8072205558900 vs PK8072205499400

Anyone know what is the difference between these two Ordering Codes?

Hi Vishal,

Thanks for your reply.

Since the specifications are identical, can these two be interchangeable?

Why do one singular model has two different ordering and spec codes?

What are the difference in specifications between two spec code Q421 vs SRN6G?

Hello William11,

I hope this message finds you well.

Regarding your first question about interchangeability: a motherboard should not be populated with Intel® Xeon® processors that have different specification codes (Spec Codes), even if they are the same model. While the processors may appear similar, differences in internal clock speeds, power segments, or cache sizes—even if minor—can lead to system instability or failure.

For more details, you can refer to Intel’s official guidance here: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000029316/processors/intel-xeon-processors.html

Intel does not support or validate configurations that mix processors with different internal characteristics, including clock frequencies, power segments, or cache sizes.

As for the Intel® Xeon® Platinum 8562Y+ Processor, it may have multiple Spec Codes due to variations in stepping versions or manufacturing processes. Spec Codes are used to distinguish between different versions or production batches of the same processor model. These differences can include:

Stepping Variations – Revisions made to improve performance, fix bugs, or enhance features.

Manufacturing Differences – Slight changes in production processes or materials across batches.

Market Segmentation – Variants tailored for specific markets or applications.

We hope this fully addresses your concerns. If there’s anything else you’d like us to clarify, feel free to let us know.

Best regards,

Thanks Vishal for the answer and follow up!

Clearly I would need to find out the exact spec code that I can use. As you said, no matter how minor the difference is, there could be risk of error.

All good now.

Thanks,

William
