I have a question about the AMT Profile settings.
I think you can select 4 items on the “FQDN Source” tab as shown in the captcha.
Could you please tell us about the behavior when each of these options is selected?
Thank you in advance.

Hello M_T11,
Greetings!
Thank you for posting in intel communities.
Here's an explanation of the behavior when each option is selected:
- Shared with Host OS:
- Behavior: The Intel AMT system uses the hostname from the operating system. However, the domain suffix is left blank. This means the FQDN will consist only of the hostname, and no domain suffix is appended.
- On-board Connection-specific DNS:
- Behavior: The hostname part of the FQDN is taken from the host operating system, but the domain suffix is obtained from the connection-specific DNS suffix of the onboard wired LAN interface. This option allows the Intel AMT system to use a domain specific to the network connection.
- DNS Lookup:
- Behavior: Intel AMT uses the name returned by a DNS lookup on the IP address of the onboard wired LAN interface. This option requires a reverse DNS lookup to be properly configured in your DNS server, as it resolves the name by querying the IP address.
- Primary DNS:
- Behavior: The hostname part of the FQDN is taken from the host operating system, and the suffix is the Primary DNS suffix configured on the host operating system. This is typically the main domain name your system is configured to use.
Each option impacts how the Intel AMT system resolves and registers its FQDN within the network, with different suffixes or behaviors depending on the environment and configuration.

Vijay N.
