We would like to ask you about each of the following servers, their roles and functions in EMA, and what kind of services they provide.
・Swarm Server
・Ajax Server
・Manageability Server
・Web Server
・Recovery Server
Section 6 of "intel-ema-distibuted-seve-installation-and-maintenance-guide" Appendix - Modifying Component Server
We would like to request that you provide documentation or information that clearly explains what role each server plays in EMA, rather than explaining each parameter as described in Settings.

Ajax Server : This handles the JavaScript library and API requests such as in-band remote desktop capabilities.
Swarm Server : This manages the connections between managed devices and the Intel EMA instance in-band and out-of-band.
Manageability Server : This manages Intel AMT provisioning and unprovisioning of the devices
File Action/Recovery Server : This is used for in-band file transfers from the Intel EMA server to devices.
Intel EMA Web Server : This Supplies a user interface for Intel EMA when not integrated into deployments through API's/

Hi Arun_Intel,
Thank you for your advice!
I would like to confirm the following regarding your answer.
AJAX Server:
Is this a function that is mainly used when using the API, and not used when using the WEB management console?
Is it also used for some operations from the management console to the agent?
Manageability Server:
Is it correct to understand that this is not used for anything other than provisioning management?
Are power and connection status management functions the function of other servers?
File Action/Recovery Server:
Is it correct to understand that this is a function that is only used when transferring files from EMA to the agent?
Intel EMA Web Server:
Is it correct to understand that this does not function when integrated?
Swarm Server:
Is it correct to understand that each remote operation to the endpoint performed from the EMAWEB management console is performed through this server?
Best Regards

Hello Satoshi,
Greetings!
AJAX Server: Is this a function that is mainly used when using the API, and not used when using the WEB management console?
Is it also used for some operations from the management console to the agent?
A/ Ajax, handles JavaScript library’s requests from APIs and Web Management. It handles operations from both sides. Started by the Platform Manager service
Manageability Server: Is it correct to understand that this is not used for anything other than provisioning management?
Are power and connection status management functions the function of other servers?
A/ Manages Intel® AMT provisioning and unprovisioning requests for endpoints. It talks to the Swarm server to send provision/unprovision requests to the
Endpoints. Only one Manageability Server should be running in a distributed environment. Started by the Platform Manager service
File Action/Recovery Server:
Is it correct to understand that this is a function that is only used when transferring files from EMA to the agent?
A/ It is started by the Platform Manager service. Used for initiating recovery process to return specified endpoint’s OS to a last known good state in a secure manner.
Intel EMA Web Server: Is it correct to understand that this does not function when integrated?
A/ It is the primary GUI for end users. Deployed on the IIS server by the Platform Manager service after installation. Refer Intel® EMA Administration and Usage Guide for further details.
Swarm Server: Is it correct to understand that each remote operation to the endpoint performed from the EMAWEB management console is performed through this server?
A/ Started by the Platform Manager service. Accepts the TCP connection from the endpoints (devices) and handles communication between endpoints.

Vijay N.

Hello Vijay N,
A/ Ajax, handles JavaScript library's requests from APIs and Web Management. It handles operations from both sides. Started by the Platform Manager service
=> I understand that it is used from both APIs and the Web.
A/ Manages Intel® AMT provisioning and unprovisioning requests for endpoints. It talks to the Swarm server to send provision/unprovision requests to the
=> I understand that provisioning is managed in cooperation with the SwarmServer, but what about power and connection status management?
A/ It is started by the Platform Manager service. Used for initiating recovery process to return a specified endpoint's OS to a last known good state in a secure manner.
=> How exactly is this done? You don't take backups on the EMA side, do you?
I think this is a specification-related part, so I'll answer to the best of my ability.
A/ It is the primary GUI for end users. Deployed on the IIS server by the Platform Manager service after installation. Refer to Intel® EMA Administration and Usage Guide for further details.
=> The "Intel® EMA Administration and Usage Guide" only describes the configuration parameters, and does not describe the functions. Is my question covered in the manual?
A/ Started by the Platform Manager service. Accepts the TCP connection from the endpoints (devices) and handles communication between endpoints.
=> I understand that, but what role does it play in the WEBGUI menu (which functions of Hardware Manageability, Desktop, Terminal, Files, Processes, WMI does it provide)? That is what I am asking about.
Because there is a possibility of misunderstandings, I have put each question in the form of a question such as "Is this the function?" or "Is this the correct understanding?" I would like you to answer each question with a Yes or No. It is difficult to tell from your answer whether the role and function I have presented are included. Thank you in advance.
