Either the user name was not recognised

Hi!

I have Q170 Intel chipset and was able to use remote control through AMT capabilities. It has been working for just a few months and then stopped. I got the message "Either the user name was not recognised, or the password was incorrect". I didn't forget password. I was able to use "incorrect" password to open AMT bios properties. I just turned off AMT in BIOS and turned it on again. Remote control function was returned back and I was able to use it during the next few months but I lost control and now I have the message about incorrect password again. I beleive I can use the same way to restore control as I've got permanent work. Can someone explain me what has happened and how to fix it? I've bios updated through the latest vendor software

I am really sorry for the inconvenience you have encountered. I will do my best to try and find out the possible cause of the Web Access problems.

 

Could you please help with the AMT version been use and the OS been use on the servers you have encountered this problem.

 

Also the hardware configuration on the server, for example, the CPU, Chipset, OS and network card use on the servers.

 

 

But with your description, this sounds similar to the bug on the BIOS Firmware on some system with Skylake systems.

 

Then I will recommend contacting the system OEM for the latest Firmware for your system.

Vendor has an update for firmware - F23c but according to description it is just "1. Update CPU Microcode"

Thank you for the updated information. I will either try the BIOS update or contact the system board manufacturer to verify if the BIOS will also help with Vpro configuration rest on the 29th date.

Hi Henry!

I think you misunderstood.

I already had made such fix before. It has been working just for one or two months. After such fix the issue appears again but I need a permanent solution. It is the reason why am looking for help.

Please provide me with the main board manufacturer and the server manufacturer, plus the firmware Version been use and any additional information on the AMT.

Hi Henry!

Thank you for your answer. I followed by link you provided but did not find any items at BIOS level. I have just applications & referencies here. So I couldn't understand which link is able to help me because If server is switched off I haven't operating system loaded.

By the way. The issue reoccured today!

I downloaded "INTEL-SA-00075 Detection and Mitigation Tool" and installed it. I launched it and got message

I followed by provided link and was moved to GigaByte site. According to information on vendor site I already have latest FW bios and have all updates. So I can't have any more updates

Hi Henry!

I used the link you provided me for and downloaded software for AMT. I tried it and checked configuration & FW. My FW is not latest according to info I got (but I installed the latest BIOS FW ). I emailed about it to Gigabyte support site. They asked me about correct AMT version that I am looking for. Can you tell me what the latest AMT version is? Really I don't know. I think guys from Gigiabyte support center don't know it too.

Hi Henry!

I upgraded software related to AMT. I started using AMT Configuration Utility. I thought it would provide the same functionality I'd already had in AMT bios setup. Through configuration by utility I was able successefully avoid "Either the user name was not recognised" issue. I decided the issues is solved. I powered off the computer and tried connect again to AMT and connection wasn't established. I powered on computer manualy and then I got ability connect to AMT. I reviewed AMT configuration settings into BIOS and they were changed.

So If I saved AMT configuration by configuration utility I can't power on the computer by AMT. I have to disable AMT and enable it again in BIOS and configure to restore full AMT functionality
