Feature Request for an optional device-alias

Hi community,

is there any way to request a feature for EMA ?

We´re using EMA for all our test-devices (around 70 devices).

These device are very often rebuild. To know what hardware is behind the device-name an alias description to manually add to any device would be very helpful to us.

Regards

Torsten

Hello Torsten_Nowak,

Thank you for sharing what you would like to see implemented in the Intel EMA software.

I am forwarding your request to the development team for their review. Hopefully, these options will be included in future releases.

Hello Torsten_Nowak,

Greetings!

Please share the below details:

1- OS version of the Server

2- SQL version

3- Location of both; (physical, virtual)

4- Will they be on the same server machine?

5- Authentication mode: Local, Azure AD, or Windows AD

5- Intel® EMA software version to be installed.

6- Number of endpoints to be provisioned.

7- Will remote access to BIOS be necessary?

8- Location of endpoints: local or remote.

Regards,

Vijay N.

Hello Vijay N.,

1 - Server 2019

2 - MS SQL Server 2019

3 - virtual

4 - same machine

5 - Auth. Windows AD

6 - EMA 1.13.0.0 (always up2date)

7 - 70 (current) up to 150 (future)

8 - yes, BIOS access needed and already setup & working

9 - endpoints all local

The EMA environment is already in use and working fine for 2 years now, the only "missing" feature is an option to rename or alias a device in EMA without the need to rename the device itself (e.g. hostname).

regards

Torsten

Hello Torsten_Nowak,

Greetings!

Could you please send us a picture showing where you would like to see the alias name of the endpoints?

I understand that you want to categorize the endpoints based on PC hardware components.

This can be achieved by creating endpoint groups according to hardware specifications.

Vijay N.

Hey Vijay,

it´s not the hardware components that you can categorize.

We have 1 (one) device of each model that is used in our organization in our model office.

So I´d like to see in the list of devices the model-type of the device as an additional info to the device-name.

examples:

"HP Elitebook 840 G9"

"Lenovo T470"

"Dell XPS 13 9365"

Another use case for this additional info is: We also have a network probe (tiny PC) in each site worldwide in one group for the network guys. Also here instead of renaming the device, it would be very helpful to add the name of the city, so they can easily find the correct device. So it would just be an editable additional column you can select like the "Endpoints"-list.
