Looks like I gotta have a Verisign, Godaddy, Comodo or Starfield cert to even start Remote Configuration?

Forging ahead and contemplating the provisioning of my new vPro systems. After re-reading the docs, it does appear that I'll need to buy an external cert that matches what was preloaded in our MEBx, correct? If we didn't provide the vendor with one of our own certs, at the end of the day, we'll need to either buy a cert of go manually from machine to machine with a USB stick?

Correct. If you do not buy a remote configuration cert you can generate your own, but, you have to manually load it on each machine.
