Recommendation for Desktop processor that is most efficient for Multi Threading

Hi,

I use a multithreaded (around 20 threads run parrallel) desktop application. Earlier i used Dual Core processor, when i switched to Core 2 Duo with 3 GHz Clk speed, i almost saved 25% of the processing time. I have searched many processors (i7, i5, Core 2 Quad) but am confused with all these, please help and recommend a Desktop processor that is most efficient for Multi Threading. No gaming, no internet, i need just effiecient processor for my time critical application, so as to save time.
