I am unable to resolve the sm bus controller driver on a Sony Vaio PCG-7Y2L VGN-N320e laptop. It came with Vista. I installed a new hard drive and loaded Win XP. I was able to resolve all of the drivers except the SM bus controller driver. Some other discussions said that they found the solution on the Intel website. I am not sure where to look.
The Intel "scan my system" driver update programs worked and updated my Intel 945 chipset. The motherboard is an Intel T2060 1.6 Ghz CPU.

Here is the link to the INF Chipset installation utility, infinst911autol.exe, which installs chipsets in several varieties of chipsets. It solved my missing "sm bus controller" driver.
