"2nd generation" same as the first?

Seems as if there is no way to tell if you are buying the "previous generation" or the "2nd generation" the model numbers and stats are identical. Walmart is selling a laptop with a i5-480M. There is a "i5-480M" listed in the compair precessor list you end up at when you click on either generation. Actually when you click on the compare processors from either page you go to the same URL and on that URL it doesn't tell you whats previous and whats 2nd.

So 2nd generation has a new sticker on the laptop?

If the name of the CPU starts with "2" then it's a 2nd generation CPU

Examples: I5- 450 --> 1st generation

I5-2450 ---> 2nd generation

how to know difference between 1st & 2nd generation i5, just seeing its logo??

Yes, apart from looking for the '2' at the beginning of the model number. As far as I am aware these are the different logo's to tell 1st and 2nd generation apart.

1st gen logo:

Notice the the right top curved area exposing the inside chip.
