Can I use my Intel RealSense D435 with ROS Melodic for Ubuntu 18.04.1? Kernel Version: 5.0.0-29-generic

My understanding of the current situation with ROS Melodic, from the information in the link below, is that it is possible to build Librealsense for Melodic and Ubuntu 18 but it all has to be built manually as realsense_camera and realsense2_camera do not yet have official Melodic support.

 

Doronhi, one of the main Intel RealSense ROS guys, said in March 2019, "Releasing realsense2_camera for Melodic is planned but as it seems to work for many people as it is, so far it never got the full attention of being supported officially".
