Creating my own game

I've recently became a happy owner of new Intel CPU that made it possible for me to play better video games than just Tibia and old RuneScape.

However now that I got to play better games I was shocked at how well have the games evolved since Tibia times. And I would like to do something more in this field, e.g. making games.

Gaming is certainly great but I would like to do more and game development is like two great things in one, not only you make games so something youre interested in (gaming) but also youre learning and being productive.

I even know some Python but im not sure how to make the next step from here. Does anyone here have experience coding games? Where should I start?

It was the same with me, I liked gaming but making games always seemed more interesting choice. But it's only "productive" because your brain recognizes it as such. If you wont get a game developer job later then I dont want to kill your motivation but its not exactly productive in this case, as most of indie game devs failed to make money on their games that they made alone. So make sure you will get results whether its a job or selling the game on Steam, otherwise its just work without pay, and thats not productive.

As for coding games, for good or for bad its very easy to do it in 2020 thats why so many indie games pop up recently. All you have to do is to learn popular game engine. Of course they are huge, but still easy, just require a lot of time to learn them. One of best game engines is Unity and it can make games like the ones you mentioned (Tibia, Runescape, etc). You shouldnt really make games in Python. If you want to learn unity then always go for courses that dont cost anything (example) because if you ever decide that you need to sell your game or something, then you may have to pay for marketing or to publishers or whatever. And it will be pretty costly so no need to further increase bills.

PS, you should learn C# if you want to use Unity. And preferably do it before downloading engine.
