I was finally able to install the intel-realsense-dfu firmware update tool on my Ubuntu 18.04 machine. When I run the tool, I get the following:

Error: DFU_DS5() Failed! DS5 device not found.The tool looks to have found the realsense camera (D415) as it output the current firmware version.
I wasn't able to find any information on this error, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Although the RealSense 400 Series cameras can work with USB 2.0 or 3.0, the RealSense DFU firmware updater tool requires a USB 3.1 port. Do you have one of these on your machine, please? Also, are you using the original short USB-C cable that was supplied with the camera?

Ah, I had assumed that if the camera worked on USB 3.0 the DFU tool would as well. I'll have to grab an expansion card to add 3.1 support. This could take me about a week to procure and test, but I'll respond back with results. To answer your last questions, yes, I'm using the provided USB-A to USB-C cable provided.
Can you confirm what part of USB3.1 is the dependency? The card I'm looking at only supports 5v/2.4A on the USB-A 3.1 port. It does support 5v/3A on the USB-C port, and I have USB-C to USB-C cables I can use. I'm doubting the dependency is on the 10Gbps capabilities of USB3.1, but it would be nice to get a confirmation.
