The RealSense 400 Series cameras (D415 and D435) are supported by commercial 3D scanning software that could perform high-quality 3D model scanning.
Dot3D Scan
RecFusion
Of these two, RecFusion has been highly recommended by RealSense users who have used it.
When making a choice between the D415 and D435 camera models, a couple of important points to bear in mind in regard to face scanning are:
- The D415 has better image quality than the D435.
- The D435 has a wider field of view than the D415 and so can fit more detail into its camera view. If you are going to be scanning at close range, the D435 may therefore be the more suitable choice to ensure that you get the full width / height of the face into the camera view.
