Is there a way to turn off the IR projector on a real sense camera running on USB 2.0? It seems changing projector intensity or toggling the projector off at all is not enabled in 2.0 mode.

I ran tests with a D435i and confirmed that both the Emitter Enabled and the Laser Power setting (which affects IR projection pattern visibility) are absent in the RealSense Viewer in USB2 mode. I also confirmed that the dot projection was present in USB2 mode.
I could not find a workaround to turn it off in USB2 mode, unfortunately. The only reasons I can think of for it being locked on are either (a) turning it off uses more USB bandwidth than having it on, or (b) in USB2 mode the camera is not able to use ambient light as a substitute for the dot pattern as well as it can in full USB 3 mode and so the pattern is necessary for adding readable depth to low-detail surfaces such as doors and walls.
The RealSense GitHub would be the best place to post a question asking about it if you are still curious. You can do so by visiting the link below and clicking on the 'new Issue' button.
